YOUR VOICE MATTERS

Because we value the opinions of patients and the general public, we asked for public comments during the drafting of the latest Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of Lyme Disease.  We wanted to give patients the opportunity to weigh in before the guidelines were finalized. In addition to a public comment period that was open from June 26-Sept. 9, 2019, we added patient panelists to represent the patient perspective and help draft the guidelines. Feedback gathered during the public comment period was taken into consideration by the guidelines panel before the document was approved for publication.

About The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA)
The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) represents more than 12,000 physicians, scientists and other health care professionals who specialize in infectious diseases – illnesses caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Some infectious diseases, like influenza, are highly contagious and can be passed from person to person. Other infectious diseases, such as Lyme disease, which is transmitted through the bite of an infected tick, are not as easy to catch.

IDSA’s purpose is to improve your health and that of your community and the country at large. We work towards this goal by providing education about infectious diseases and how to prevent them. We promote excellence in patient care, research, and public health.
